Eaton skriver at der ikke nødvendigvis skal bruges nogle speciel diff-olie på deres Locker diff. Men der er til stadighed og en vedblivende udvikling indenfor smøreolier.
Gearoil er nu om dage ikke bare gearoil, der findes olier til transmissioner og til differentials - og der som bekend en ikke uvæsenligt forskelle mellen et open diff - LSD/clutch - LSD/ATB - Locker diff.
Måske man skulle overveje at prøve

Many people do use the Detroit Locker during everyday street use. The Detroit Locker is a very aggressive differential, so you will hear it and feel it everyday on the street. Eaton makes many applications for trucks that spend most of their lives on the road. (In the late 60’s, some Ford cars had the Detroit Locker as a factory option.)
Eaton skriver også selv i deres manual under maintenance for Locker - Lubrication:
All NoSPIN differentials are designed to operate in those lubricants recommended by the vehicle/axle manufacturer. No special lubricant is needed. For very cold weather applications, use the lightest oil the axle manufacturer will allow to overcome possible sluggish re- engagement of the driven clutch assemblies.
Men det er måske vær at prøve RedLine Oil, før end man erkender at et LSD/ATB nok er et mere velegnet diff til kombinationen asfalt/terræn.
