Hi Graham
According to Land Rover Denmark - and England: The positioning of sparewheels on the bonnet have never been officially approved by the manufacturer.
That is very strange because the factory have produced and still produce fastenings for sparewheels on bonnets, and delivered cars with wheels on the bonnet.
Just an example: I bought a new fastening for my 90" just two years ago.
As long as the authorities accept military vehicles cruising on public road with their sparehweels on the bonnets, it is hard to see how they can reject identical private cars with their sparewheels on the bonnets. The terms are the same for both type of vehicles.
No regulations read specific banning of sparehweels on the bonnet, but the authorities - Biltilsynet - can according to the legislation reject cars mounted with obstacles, that prevent clear and unlimited visibility, but that opens the gate for different interpretings - and whether the visibility is clear or not.
So just go on, let them present the written paragraphs that forbid the postion of your sparewheel - if they can.
All the best with your next visit to Biltilsynet.
